Course Overview

After upgrading your technical presentation skills on stage and online with Power Presenter™, expand your presentation toolkit and build even more confidence with Advanced Power Presenter™. This course is an intensive, six-session, 12-hour workshop-based program designed to help technical professionals at any stage of their career advance their presentation skills.

Course Details

Power Presenter consists of six sessions broken up into 5-7-minute chunks (in accordance with online best practices) with homework in between sessions. Homework consists of researching and preparing materials such as visuals and practicing before speaking live (using various modalities) in the following session.

Session 1
Fundamentals Review
Review key concepts from Power Presenter™, including the three key questions audiences are asking, to ensure students are up to speed with the learning from their original experience before diving into more advanced topics.
Presentation Topic: Personal Introduction with Success Story

Session 2
Introductions, Transitions and Conclusions
Learn the most effective techniques to leverage introductions, including the 5-step checklist, build smooth transitions and memorable conclusions including calls to action (CTAs).
Presentation Topic: Personal Roadmap Update and Audience Issues

Session 3
Engagement, Illustrations and Packaging
Discuss techniques for audience engagement, review illustration best practices including storytelling, using examples, and presenting facts and data. Discuss presentation packaging strategies to aid audience retention.
Presentation Topic: Application of Session 2 - Introduction, Transition, Conclusion

Session 4
Visuals and Power Slides
Outline approaches for creating powerful visuals to aid the presentation and review common "go to" examples that are known to be highly effective in technical environments.
Presentation Topic: Application of Session 3 - Engagement, Illustrations, and Packaging

Session 5
Team Presentations and Q&A
Explore the unique characteristics and challenges of team presentations including how to handle questions and answers as a group. Managing audiences connecting across multiple venues (in person, virtual, phone, etc.) will also be outlined.

Session 6
Panels and Events
Discuss best practices (and common mistakes) for conducting panel-style presentations as both host and member. Outline the three layers of planning needed to ensure critical presentation events (e.g. customer and/or executive reviews) are successful.
